To rectify the miss treatment of Asian Americans there are many groups out there like Model Minority and Asian American Justice Center. These groups help to bring the needs of Asian Americans to the forefront in order to prevent the discrimination that occurs. With the AAJC they monitor hate crimes and bigotry.
The make sure that legislation is pushed forward to get tougher laws in place against the discrimination of Asian Americans as hate crimes, bigotry, and also in the workplace where discrimination occurs. Currently a case is being waged for the Asian Americans with Green Bay and the Hmong Community. A person responsible for a hate crime is on trial. The AAJC is working to make sure that the crime is tried as a hate crime and not just murder.. It is instances like this that show the need for the Asian Americans to have protection against racial discrimination.
Model Minority is a little different in their striving towards proper treatment of Asian Americans. They have formed a forum and information center to help individuals realize the type of racial discrimination that occurs and how it needs to be stopped.
Currently the racial discrimination, according to Model Minority is not treated properly. Instead all anyone hears about is the African American issues. Asian Americans don't actually conform to a single description when it comes to being Americans. They have their culture and differences in the cultures that do separate them from the 'American' description, but they are still Americans with citizenship. This means these individuals should be treated correctly. There should be equal opportunity for Asian Americans.
To stop racial discrimination is a hard process. Racial discrimination has been going on for decades, with only small changes. It is because many can't seem to change their own views. Individuals in America are raised with prejudice. It is fodder for their education, despite schools and other individuals of influence in the lives of Americans.
It is unfortunate that many can't look past the color of others skin or their own to see that we are all alike in some respects. We are made up of genes, atoms, and brain cells that require a higher level of thinking than other animals. We have thoughts, feelings, and dreams. We may have a different view of how we live in our culture, how we are raised, but we are when it comes down to it the same in structure.
