For various reasons Asian Pacific American need a little help in exploring their job opportunities and other aspects of the American dream.
To help foster the generations to come and help offer more diversity in the workforce the government has been working to place more opportunities at the hands of the Asian Pacific American as well as others that are discriminated against such as Hispanics and African Americans.
Secretary Chao, appointed by President Bush, has been opening up opportunities for the Asian Pacific American. Through Chao's work internship programs in the US Department of Labor has already helped 60 Asian Americans. The internship program will continue in Washington D.C. for those who are interested in the government sector. Furthermore for the Asian Pacific American an Opportunity Conference has been held annually.
This conference invites more than the US Department of Labor to help the Asian Pacific American. Any federal agency or non- profit organization is welcome to attend the conference in search of individuals who may benefit their company. The Asian Pacific American will discover the free workshop offers small business development, means for accessing capital, doing business with the government, and assistance for workers with limited proficiency in English. Opportunities for faith and community organizations are also available.
There have always been opportunities in the US for Asian Pacific American immigrants and descendants. These opportunities are generally limited to the food service or dry cleaning industry. Secretary Chao wants more for the next Asian Pacific American in providing opportunities to be leaders in the US. For anyone who is interested in having a job within the government the opportunities at these workshops and internships are now there and will stay available.
Education that was once limited will now be more available for the Asian Pacific descendants. Immigrants can find opportunities to learn English as well as continue to speak their native language. The help they can find through the government allows them to call and speak their own language. There are many opportunities as a result of the current administration with more than 400 employees of Asian Pacific descent in the administration.
