The sponsorship of many churches in America has provided the Asian Community and the American Community a bridge for learning about each other. The similarity here is that because of the role that faith plays in our lives it gives the Asian Community and the American Community the strength of a solid family core. Statistics prove that with strong beliefs in the household the offspring have a better chance of avoiding trouble.
The family life between the Asian Community and the American Community contain similarities and differences. A strong sense of family is seen in both communities but it would seem that while some in the American Community encourage their children to do well in their studies the Asian Community prides themselves on having four point grade averages. This is certainly not the case in every household but it is in the majority. The difference being the American Community is more lackadaisical in the study habits they develop. It seems more of a priority in the Asian Community.
Another area where you will see a difference is in the food choices between the Asian Community and the American Community. You will also find that most in the Asian Community still hold to making the meal a time of family gathering, a time to socialize and celebrate. While the American Community does this as well the family meal time can be a hurried affair.
The Asian Community has differences in their diet that are moored in traditions. They have three major dietary cultures and pretty much adhere to them. While the American Community will embrace many different dietary cultures, very few meals are typically American. The Asian Community has kebobs from the southwest style which also includes rice and beans. The northeast tradition comprises spices and seasonings which are used as medicines to promote long and healthy lives. The American Community is just now starting to embrace foods that are healthier and fight disease. While the American Community enjoys some of the northeast style of cooking from the Asian Community it is not the main part of the diet. The southeast tradition of the Asian Community cooking styles has a preference for stir frying and the use of soy sauce in most of their dishes. Spices also are a large part of this cuisine.
The traditions and cultures of the two communities have indeed mixed and blended over the years, furthering the idea that the United States is a melting pot for people from every continent.
