Statistics on Reverse Discrimination against Asian Americans
Racial discrimination has long been a concern in the United States for many reasons. We started out being racially discriminate with slavery and though it has improved there are still pockets of the US that tend to have a high racial discrimination.. For Asian Americans this has been a problem in trying to compete in various areas of the job field. Universities in recent history were under affirmative action policies in which they were supposed to have more of a well rounded racial group in the schools; unfortunately this seemed to cause more racial discrimination against the Asian Americans. It was not until affirmative action was disbanded in a few of the universities that reverse discrimination came into play. Typically reverse discrimination is when there is a change in who is being discriminated against who is not usually a minority.

In the case of a paper recently read regarding university admissions the Asian American groups study by Charles Young and Dr. Cheung showed that a reverse discrimination began to occur for the white populations as soon as the affirmative action was dropped as a policy at universities.. There was a fear that more racial discrimination against the Asian American would come about as a result of the drop in the policy. However, it seemed that more racial discrimination was actually occurring when a policy to prevent it was in place. Since the affirmative action was dropped at universities the attendance of Asian Americans rose above whites, Hispanics, and African Americans. Though Hispanics was seen as more of a mixed group where some universities had higher enrollments.

As yet there doesn't seem to be reverse discrimination for the Asian Americans at university. However, there is reverse discrimination against Asian Americans in other areas. For example in New York City and areas of California there is definite reverse discrimination and racial discrimination. These two places have very high populations of Asian Americans. They are finding that despite their high population they are still being limited in certain areas for gaining better positions.

It is the blind eye that will not see the reverse discrimination or racial discrimination that is going on. Politics is working to help the reverse discrimination and racial discrimination end by helping those in need get better positions and the education they need. While it is not fair to go to specific universities that will avoid reverse discrimination and racial discrimination these are some options for those who are truly being prejudiced against.

In the US reverse discrimination and racial discrimination are still two very difficult problems. What most need to realize is that it is not just the Asian Americans facing these issues. We cannot seem to strike a balance of equality and therefore reverse discrimination and racial discrimination are going to be issues for a bit longer. Hopefully not too many of the next generations will have to deal with reverse discrimination as more Asian Americans strive for changes. After all reverse discrimination is just as bad as other discrimination.
