Organization brings medical knowledge to Asian American population

There are many people in the world that have no idea about medical coverage and health benefits that are available to them, especially outside of the United States. As people begin to emigrate to the country, they are still clueless about what is actually available to them once they are here. The Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum informs the Asian American community about the medical and health benefits that are out there for them. It gives the community a national policy that informs them on other policies and programs that are essential to their health and well-being.

The forum works with community leaders, health advocates and organizations based in Asian American communities to provide health and medical guidance. The forum looks to expand the access to health and medical care even in communities where English is not the prominent language. The forum has an area called the Health Information Network, which is especially important in times of public health and medical emergencies and natural disasters, when certain communities might not have previously been notified, or would not have understood the situation of such a medical or non-medical crisis. The network gets up to date information at all times to ensure that everyone, no matter where they live or what language they speak, is notified of what the precise situation entails. That way in the event of a disaster, no one would be left behind. Everyone would receive medical attention to the best of the program's ability, or would be evacuated as fast as possible.

What the Forum wanted to do was create a movement for flawless health of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, regardless of whatever situation they might be in. The Asian American community itself plays the biggest part in the forum's mission because they are the everyday people trying to make a difference because of situations they have gone through themselves, or know of someone that needs health advice and/or medical help. The goal of the forum is to improve the quality of health care and create access to all medical needs for all people, especially the Asian American community. In creating language access and a diverse work force, the Asian American community will feel more comfortable seeking aid for medical visits. It is essentially creating something that might have been a struggle for some people into a wonderfully convenient program.

With this program, the health and well-being of the Asian American community will soar. All the medical needs will be taken care of without the stress of not knowing exactly what they are getting themselves into. It creates a sense of comfort for Asian Americans when they seek medical help, when they may have had a terrible experience prior. All in all, the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum reaches out to the Asian and Pacific Islander American community in order to better their life, and creating convenient health care and policies so if they do need medical help, it will not be a reach to get exactly what they deserve.
